2. Scope of this policy

This policy covers this website, information you submit to BookBrothers through lead forms in our Facebook and Instagram advertisements, and our related email communications. Our email signup campaigns are intended for adults age 18 or older residing in the United States. This audience focus does not limit any privacy rights that apply to you by law. Meta’s own collection and use of information on its services is governed by Meta’s Privacy Policy.

3. Information we collect

• Contact information: your email address and, if requested in the form, your name.
• Signup information: the form or campaign you responded to, submission time, stated preferences, and records of your marketing choice and the notice shown to you.
• Communications and delivery records: messages you send us, email delivery or bounce information, unsubscribe requests, and suppression records.
• Email engagement: with your tracking consent, email opens, link clicks, timestamps, IP address, and browser or device information supplied by SendPulse.
• Technical information: our hosting provider may process IP address, browser or device information, requested pages, and access times to deliver and protect this website.

4. How we use information

We use your information to deliver content you request; send BookBrothers promotional and marketing emails, including book news, releases, offers, and related content when you sign up for them; manage your preferences; answer questions; keep records of signup choices; protect our services; and meet legal obligations. We do not treat a visit to this website as permission to send marketing emails.

5. Your email choices

The signup form explains the emails you are choosing to receive before you submit your information. You can stop promotional emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by emailing hello@bookbrothers.ink. No account or payment is required. We stop consent-based marketing without undue delay when you unsubscribe or withdraw consent, and in all cases within the CAN-SPAM limit of 10 business days and keep the unsubscribe mechanism available for at least 30 days after each marketing email is sent. We may keep a limited suppression record to prevent further marketing. Unsubscribing does not prevent us from responding to a request you initiate or sending strictly necessary non-promotional communications.

6. Who receives information

We use service providers to host the website, manage contact records, deliver email, and support security and administration. Our providers are Netlify for website hosting and SendPulse for email delivery and list management. They receive information needed to perform these services, subject to applicable contractual restrictions. Meta processes lead-form information under its own terms and provides submitted leads to us. We may also disclose information when legally required, to protect rights or safety, or in a business transfer subject to applicable safeguards.

Under the practices described here, we do not sell or rent contact lists, share them with third parties for their independent marketing, or upload them to Meta Custom Audiences. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or use it for targeted advertising as those terms are defined under applicable state privacy laws.

7. Cookies, tracking, and external services

This static website does not set analytics or advertising cookies, run Meta Pixel, or contain signup forms. It uses locally hosted images and styles. Hosting infrastructure may process technical request information for delivery and security. We use SendPulse to measure email opens and link clicks through tracking pixels and tracked links, subject to your separate tracking consent. These technologies may record the email opened, links clicked, time, IP address, and browser or device information. We use this information to understand engagement and improve our emails; open measurements may be affected by email-provider privacy features. You can decline tracking and still subscribe to marketing emails. To withdraw tracking consent, email hello@bookbrothers.ink; we will disable tracking for future emails to you. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing. Unsubscribing stops future marketing emails. Delivery, bounce, and unsubscribe records are processed separately to operate the service. Meta may use its own cookies and advertising technologies on Facebook and Instagram. External websites have their own privacy practices. Because this website does not perform sale, sharing, or targeted advertising, there is no such processing here for a Global Privacy Control signal to stop. We do not otherwise change our practices in response to browser Do Not Track signals.

8. Retention and security

We retain contact information while needed for your subscription and the purposes described above, considering your preferences, our relationship with you, and applicable legal requirements. We periodically review records and delete or de-identify information no longer needed. Limited consent, compliance, dispute, and suppression records may be retained longer where necessary. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards; no storage or transmission system can be guaranteed completely secure.

9. Your privacy requests

You may contact hello@bookbrothers.ink to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or to ask about our practices. Depending on your state of residence and which laws apply to us, you may also have rights to obtain a portable copy, opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising or certain profiling, limit certain uses of sensitive information, and appeal a denied request. We do not use your information for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

We will verify requests proportionately, respond within applicable legal time limits, and explain any legally permitted exceptions. Authorized agents may submit requests subject to appropriate proof of authority and identity verification. To appeal where applicable, email us with “Privacy appeal” in the subject line; we will explain the outcome and any further available complaint route. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights. Marketing opt-outs do not require identity verification beyond identifying the email address to suppress.

10. International processing

Our campaigns are directed to the United States, but information may be processed by us or our service providers in other countries, where privacy laws may differ. We operate from Italy. Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, the transfer must be covered by a European Commission adequacy decision applicable to the recipient or appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses, with supplementary measures where necessary. The mechanism depends on the recipient and transfer. Contact us for information about the relevant safeguard or a copy, subject to necessary redactions. Targeting a U.S. audience does not by itself exclude laws that apply because of where the business is established or how information is processed.

11. European data protection rights and legal bases

As a controller operating in Italy, we process information under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Italian data protection law, including when subscribers reside in the United States. We rely on consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) to send the promotional emails you request and, separately, to measure opens and clicks. You may withdraw either consent at any time. Providing signup information is voluntary; an email address is needed to deliver emails, but tracking consent is optional. We rely on legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) to respond to inquiries, administer and secure our services, manage delivery and suppression records, and maintain necessary evidence of signup choices, balancing those interests against your rights. We rely on legal obligations (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR) where we must retain or disclose information by law.

You may request access, correction, erasure, restriction, or portability of your information, subject to applicable conditions, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You have an unconditional right to object to direct marketing, including related profiling. We normally respond to GDPR rights requests within one month; if a lawful extension is needed, we will explain it within that first month. You may lodge a complaint with the Italian supervisory authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, at garanteprivacy.it, or another competent supervisory authority. You may also seek a judicial remedy. We do not make solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you.

12. Children

Our signup campaigns are intended for adults age 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it as appropriate.
